In a trauma scenario, every second counts.
Core Compression is the ideal solution for quick, minimally invasive bandaging. The Core Compression bandaging system takes only 7 seconds to wrap compared with 7 minutes to wrap on average with traditional bandaging solutions.
The average time to bleed out after experiencing a serious physical trauma like a gunshot wound is only 3-5 minutes.
The average time for first responders to arrive is 7-10 minutes.
Approximately 40% of trauma-related deaths worldwide are due to bleeding. Uncontrolled bleeding is the most common cause of preventable deaths due to trauma.
Core Compression is so simple to apply, alleviating the need for extensive training.
Users can also self-dress in seconds, making Core Compression a critical addition to first aid kits.
Once a trauma victim can reach medical attention, medical staff can simply detach the Velcro closure for instant access to the wound- no need to waste critical time cutting messy bandages.
Traditional trauma bandaging requires multiple wraps, which translates to repeated and painful bodily manipulation.
Further, individual wrapped layers form an incomplete seal, allowing blood leakage. That adds up to increased blood loss and patient distress.
Core Compression wraps in one simple, swift motion.
Our ultra-absorbent bandage material wicks moisture away from the wound and can hold up to a gallon of blood without degrading. The combination of waterproof backing and excess bandage on top and bottom of the compression band catches any blood overflow, preventing leaks.
The result? Improved outcomes for patients.
Less blood-loss.
Less trauma.
Less pain.
Less panic.
The compression band applies optimal circumferential pressure around the wound, staunching blood loss, supporting the body, and preventing painful, unintentional movement.
The bandage securely attaches to the compression wrap, ensuring the bandage does not become dislodged.
The compression acts like a weighted blanket, providing comfort and reducing panic or shock.
The wound is quickly enveloped in the bandaging system, shielding the potentially upsetting sight of the wound and lending welcome comfort to victim and first responder alike.
The bandage is latex-free, and more sterile than 90% of trauma bandages on the market.
In 1997, one the first school shootings in the US took place at my school.
The shooting at Pearl High School claimed the lives of 2 of my classmates and injured 7 others. It was an unspeakable tragedy that shocked the town of Pearl, Mississippi to the core, and left an indelible impression on me. The suffering that pervaded the town in the aftermath of that shooting galvanized my desire to help victims of gun violence in some meaningful way.
I founded Core Compression in 2006 as a bandaging solution to meet the need of Post-Op patients. As a medical aesthetician at Westlake Dermatology in Austin TX, I was always looking for ways to dress liposuction patients more quickly and efficiently. The state of the art involved multiple loose bandages that often leaked, spoiling clothing and car interiors.
I spent months extensively researching a solution. I tested hundreds of bandage types and compression strengths before arriving at the ideal configuration, and the Core Compression system was born.
Core Compression was an instant hit with patients, who could simply and quickly wrap themselves at home, and experienced fewer leaks. Core Compression's unique ability to wick up to a gallon of blood away from the wound site resulted in fewer infections and a shorter recovery time for so many.
Shortly after inventing Core Compression, the Virginia Tech shootings took the lives of 33 victims. My mission instantaneously changed direction, and I knew my life's purpose. Core Compression could help save lives.
I saw the parallel between Liposuction canula holes and gunshot wounds. And I knew all too well the importance of time management in an emergency. Core Compression is fast, effective and brings sustaining comfort to trauma victims.
With Core Compression, my burning passion is to help as many trauma victims as I possibly can survive and thrive.
With love,
